It has been a very useful enabling tool for our instructors to train our pilots. Individual tracking and cloud- based app are the USPs,\u201d said Captain Ashim Mittra, senior vice president flight operations, IndiGo.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt fits synergistically with our lean clean flying machine philosophy and allows us to continue providing an on-time, affordable and hassle-free flying experience to our customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As the pandemic began, thousands of pilots from all airlines were stood down, and to this day, many are yet to be recalled.<\/p>\n<p>World passenger traffic dropped 60 per cent in 2020 and flights per day decreased drastically, according to an ICAO report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe key to flying safely is frequency,\u201d said Richard McSpadden, senior vice president at the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association\u2019s Air Safety Institute in the US. \u201cYou are not as sharp if you haven\u2019t flown for a while.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pilots who have been grounded for a long time are required to re-train.<\/p>\n<p>Airbus developed MATe for pilots to train \u201cwhenever and wherever they want\u201d, the planemaker said.<\/p>\n<p>Trainers are able to monitor and follow the pilots progress through the cloud technology.<\/p>\n<p>The technology was based off Airbus\u2019 Cockpit Experience (ACE) Trainer, a simulator used in training centres for Flight Crew Licensing courses.<\/p>\n<p>The mobile simulator is made for the A320 family and in the future will be available for the A330 and A350 by 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The MATe champions the flight \u201ccompetency-based\u201d philosophy and Flight Training Reference (AFTR) standard and can be accessed on any IT device.<\/p>\n<p>Airbus is the first large plane manufacturer to develop a mobile training device, while other smaller companies have created similar cost-efficient simulators.<\/p>\n<p>Spanish simulation specialist Indra developed a virtual reality-based simulator for military and commercial pilots, launched a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n<p>Known as the SIMCUI, the mobile training device incorporates AI algorithms that can also measure pilot performance, similar to the MATe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The European planemaker has called its 3D interactive virtual software, designed for pilot recurrent and initial type training, the Mobile Airbus Training Experience (MATe) Suite.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3418,"featured_media":92577,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_cloudinary_featured_overwrite":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[192],"tags":[58],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/92576"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3418"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=92576"}],"version-history":[{"count":6,"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/92576\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":92593,"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/92576\/revisions\/92593"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/92577"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=92576"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=92576"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=92576"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
