{"id":97055,"date":"2024-11-05T15:15:18","date_gmt":"2024-11-05T04:15:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/?p=97055"},"modified":"2024-11-07T00:35:56","modified_gmt":"2024-11-06T13:35:56","slug":"cathay-triples-sustainable-aviation-fuel-uptake-through-corporate-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldofaviation.com\/2024\/11\/cathay-triples-sustainable-aviation-fuel-uptake-through-corporate-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Cathay triples sustainable aviation fuel uptake through corporate program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Cathay has expanded its Corporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel Programme with new partners tripling carbon emission reductions compared to last year.<\/p>\n<p>The airline has introduced a tiered structure for the program, which now includes 15 corporate partners across Diamond, Gold and Silver levels.<\/p>\n<p>Program partners have committed to using 2,650 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel in 2024, reducing carbon emissions by approximately 8,060 tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>Cathay Group Chief Executive Officer Ronald Lam said the program was crucial for industry decarbonisation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With growing support from our corporate travel and cargo customers, Cathay continues to increase SAF usage across our network worldwide,&#8221; Lam said.<\/p>\n<p>DB Schenker and Kuehne+Nagel have joined as Diamond partners, while EQT becomes a Gold partner and Julius Baer and Lenton Group join as Silver partners.<\/p>\n<p>The program has retained existing partners including Airport Authority Hong Kong, AIA, Standard Chartered Bank and Swire Pacific.<\/p>\n<p>Sustainable aviation fuel can reduce carbon emissions by over 80 per cent compared to conventional jet fuel, depending on technology and feedstock used.<\/p>\n<p>Cathay Pacific aims to use 10 per cent sustainable aviation fuel across its operations by 2030.<\/p>\n<p>The airline is also pursuing fleet modernisation and operational efficiency improvements to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.<\/p>\n<p>The carrier has completed sustainable aviation fuel uplifts at Hong Kong International Airport and overseas locations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cathay has expanded its Corporate Sustainable Aviation Fuel Programme with new partners tripling carbon emission reductions compared to last year.
